POWERLIFTING QUEEN: PARIS 2024 PARALYMPICS

Esther Nworgu The Powerlifting Queen

The paralympic story demonstrates the truth that there is no deformity in the body but in the mind. Failure is simply a mindset deficit of willpower and not a function of “deformity’.

Indeed, these gems of being have accomplished what so many and so-called people without any form of physical or mental deformity cannot.

Her feat is exceptional in that she triumphed with an injured shoulder, which is the fulcrum of the craft. I’m surprised at how she fought through adversity to triumph and celebrate at last. There is no doubt that she is the queen of powerlifting Paralympics.

Esther Nworgu, a Nigerian Paralympic iconic powerlifter, said that winning the silver medal in Paris felt “like heaven” having achieved this feat with a dislocated shoulder Iwogu, who lost the use of her legs as a kid, lost gold in the bench press to defending champion Cui Zhe of China in the up to 41kg category by a single kilogram.

Despite being hampered by a shoulder injury, she managed to use one hand to lift the bar owing to the injury. She shared how emotional she was because did not expect to win any medal. This was because the doctor reported that she should not compete further with her injured shoulder.

Nworgu lost the use of her legs at the age of eight for no medical reason before beginning the sport a decade ago.

She told the press she accepted her condition with love, and the result was the medal on her neck. She had grown to see her disability as an ability
“When there is impairment, there is also capacity, and what others perceive as ‘disability’ is not what I see; rather, I see it as a strength and talent, said the iconic queenL

She is part of a formidable Nigerian powerlifting field in Paris, the French capital, which comprises eight athletes and several world record holders.
Government financing in coaching played a vital role in their historic history.

After clinching silver and a temporary world record, Nworgu collapsed to the ground alongside her coach, Patience Igbiti, who won a Paralympic silver and bronze medal in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

On the first day of the games, she happily stated that Nigerians are strong people, and their strength comes from their minds. The power of positive self-confidence can enable you to achieve whatever you see in your mind. The mind has the power to control what the body does.

Los Angeles 2028: her Chinese rival, the gold medalist, will be 41 years old, while she will be about 26 years old.

So she believed that she would dominate soon and break records
